The Second Annual Future Faces of STEM Conference will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2019 and is being hosted by several San Diego County Institutions of Higher Education.
The goal of the meeting is to broaden participation in the sciences by encouraging college students from impacted groups to pursue and excel in STEM fields. The event will consist of motivational speakers, academic/professional/personal enrichment workshops, a networking lunch with professionals/mentors/peers, information about STEM professions with local industries/municipalities, and opportunities to present research in oral and poster formats.
More about us: Future Faces of STEM is organized by academic and professional leaders in the STEM fields from San Diego County. Our goal is to maximize diversity in STEM by cultivating regional support networks that are inclusive of all groups and will reach underrepresented minorities, first-generation college students, and those from low-income households.
Diversity in STEM is essential to our nation’s competitiveness, ability to mentor the next generation of scientists, and make major scientific contributions and innovations. As such, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that we maximize opportunities for students to fulfill STEM interests, degrees, and careers.
